Dog for Dog, a pet food company, spent $45,000 to have its canine snack bars included in an issue of The Hollywood Reporter, where they were mistaken for gluten-free energy bars by people who ate them, not realizing they were intended for canine consumption. Seemingly, there were no complaints about the chewy treat from a television studio president and a New York Times correspondent among others.
On the surface, the blueberry-flavored Dogsbar was a hit!
Dog for Dog chose to include a sample product in a particular issue of The Hollywood Reporter dedicated to pets because of its special focus on A-list animal actors.
Dog for Dog is endorsed by comedian Chelsea Handler, rapper Snoop Dogg and Relativity Media’s Ryan Kavanaugh. For every item bought, the company donates one of its items to a needy canine.
“People do sometimes eat the bars by mistake and then there’s a moment where they race to check the label,” said Rocky Keever, the founder of Dog for Dog.“But they’re all quality ingredients, like you’d find in your grandmother’s cabinets.”
. . . or in your grand-dog’s cabinets!
