Sunny is a very rambunctious dog. Along with her brother, she’s one of the two newest members of the Presidential Pets. Owned by President Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, she’s only recently found herself among the ranks of time traveling helpers.
Still, when the situation is put into her ball court, she puts on the most serious face that Pauline Wayne has ever seen. Dropping onto her haunches, Sunny says, “well, I think it’s probably the same reason I’m here? And I’m not totally sure why that is either, but I think that it must have something to do with the fact that we were here a few days ago.”
“We? We who?” Pauline Wayne tries to keep her patience, but the fact is that she had really been wanting to go home, not go to a second timeline for a second job, with no break between the two. The Room is really trying to kill her here!”
“We as in me, and my brother, and my people! And I’m not really sure why, like I said, because I thought that it went really good! No one fought with each other and Bo didn’t take off and Dad didn’t have to go anywhere and all of the Security Men were super nice,” says Sunny. She cocks her head to the side, a low whine knocking against her fangs. “But then the Room brought me here anyway. Aren’t…isn’t it supposed to tell us what we need to do?”
“Usually,” says Pauline Wayne. That’s always a common mistake for new Presidential Pets. “Sometimes, though, it wants us to figure it out on our own for whatever reason.”
“Oh.” Sunny’s ears droop. “I guess this is one of those times. But!” She jumps to her paws, tail wagging a mile a second. “That’s okay! You look really smart, and I know that I’m really smart! I’m sure the two of us will be able to figure it out together!”
“I’m sure we will,” says Pauline Wayne, agreeably. “That’s why the Room picked us. It has faith that we can figure it out.”
“Alright! Let’s go!” Sunny makes to take off, only to circle back around and stop in front of Pauline Wayne once more. “Where are we going?”
Pauline Wayne can’t help herself. She laughs, and some of the irritation and exhaustion fades away. “Alright, alright. Why don’t we start by you showing me where you went the last time you were here? I’m sure we can figure it out from there.”
“Okay!” With a happy yip, Sunny turns and takes off running. Pauline Wayne finds herself fairly happy to trot after the over exuberant dog. “Let’s go!”
