Prince Dorado is, by blood, the ruler of the stob-goblin’s. By vow, though, he is the prince of the asteroid; the husband of Princess El, and future ruler of the entire belt. They don’t talk much on the way to the Chapel of Halithorn. Mostly, they look, and they walk, and they rest, and they come upon a massive wall crafted from pitch black stone.

“They pulled this ore from the mines,” explains Prince Dorado. “It was part of the marriage agreement.”

MeaZea says, “you’re awfully young to be married, aren’t you?”

Prince Dorado shrugs. He leads them to a small section where the ore is slightly lighter. “I am nearly three thousand years old. I suppose that it just depends on what you classify as being young.”

He raps an intricate rhythm against the stone. The bricks hiss as they pull apart, forming an unzipped door that leads to the other side of the wall. It’s nearly four foot thick, making a passage of sort that they have to walk through.

“I would never have guessed that,” says MeaZea, shaking her head. She takes a moment, on the other side, to marvel at the buildings of Halithorn. They are made of the same black ore, as though crafted specifically to absorb and destroy all of the light that floods this world. The windows are crafted from a beautiful faceted crystal.

WooFZee whines. “Where are all the people?”

“Hiding,” says Prince Dorado, simply enough. “The Queen has been in an awful mood as of late. She has everyone under strict orders to stay out of sight.”

MeaZea frowns. “Why?”

Prince Dorado shrugs. “I’m not her, so I wouldn’t be able to answer. Come this way, now. The Chapel of Halithorn is at the center of the town.”

The Chapel of Halithorn is crafted with bricks of black ore and brilliant crystal, laid out in a checkerboard pattern. It’s actually a very strange thing to look at, awe inspiring in a way that MeaZea can’t really explain. “She’s in here?”

“She is,” says Prince Dorado. He pauses outside of the door. “Wait here. I’m going to speak with my mother-in-law about what’s transpired. Once I’ve explained everything, I’ll come back out and get you.”

And, really, neither WooFZee or MeaZea are in a position to argue.
